YIN style Yoga:

The essence of Yin practice is Yielding, Stillness, Receptivity. The practice is on the floor (sitting or lying) with the intention to bypass muscular activity and yield to the stretch of the deeper layers of connective tissue and joints for a specific length of time (3-5 minutes). This sustained stretch excites the flow of chi through the major meridians (kidney/urinary bladder, liver/gallbladder, stomach/spleen) and replenishes the internal organs. Resolving to be still and receptive facilitates the ability to witness what arises without attachment or aversion. A deeply nourishing, meditative practice suitable for all levels.
